We offer Kilimanjaro day trips or two-day hikes for those who wish to get a taste of
climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro without getting to the summit.
One-Day Hike: You may be able to acquire any route
according to your desire. This hike to the first hut will allow you to have a feel of
the mountain for one day and the hike through the rain forest will be breathtaking.
Two-Day Hike: Enjoy a scenic and breathtaking two day hike
within the base of Kilimanjaro National Park. Trek up to the first base camp huts while
enjoying panoramic views of Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peaks, and the immense and unique
wildlife and vegetation in the tropical forest.
Elevation: 6000 ft. to 9000 ft.
Distance: 6 km / 4 miles
Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
Habitat: Montane Forest
Depart the hotel and drive to Marangu Gate on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro. Do the necessary paperwork at the park gate such as registrations. Begin hiking at about 9:30AM. Hike through rainforest from the park gate (6000 ft) to Mandara Hut (9000 ft), taking about 3 – 4 hours. Stop half way for lunch. Reach Mandara Huts at about 01:00pm. After short tour at Mandara you will have go to the Hut for evening meal and overnight.
On the way back, on a side trip to Maundi Crater (about 15 minutes away) is a good way to see the surroundings as well as views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania.
It's very important that you have travel insurance, especially a plan that convers treks up to 6000 meters.
While we provide all of the communal equipment (tents, food, toilets, etc.), you only need to bring all the personal equipment that you need for your trek.
